April 7, 1974 - Mickey Munder (left), youth leader for the Southern Baptist Church of Junction City, Kansas, shreds a “pornographic” magazine at a symbolic book-burning behind the church. Publications destroyed included Playboy and The Exorcist. Required reading of The Exorcist at the Junction City High School was partially attributed for the church’s fight against what they called “filth.”
The Exorcist and Playboy go together like grain alcohol (with hash ice cubes) and a Zima chaser. Only a hot-to-trot/suppressed/sexed up/self-hating moralism could fuel that Church of False Equivalencies.
